About Auckland Branch New Lawyers

To become a member

Auckland Branch New Lawyers is for lawyers who have been recently admitted to the bar. It's an opportunity to network with people in the profession and gain knowledge about the legal community.

Once you have been admitted and hold a practising certificate you are automatically added to a mailing list to receive event invitations and the monthly ebulletin. In order to be eligible for this list you must have been practising for fewer than five years. If these requirements apply to you but you are still not receiving the email invitations and ebulletin please contact the Auckland Branch at auckland@lawsociety.org.nz.

There is a chance for new lawyers to still be included if they do not hold a practising certificate but have been admitted. If this applies to you please register with the Auckland Branch at auckland@lawsociety.org.nz or contact a member of the Auckland Branch New Lawyers committee.

The committee

The Auckland Branch New Lawyers committee is made up of a group of young lawyers from different areas of law and different firms around Auckland. The committee meets once a month to plan events and discuss matters with the Law Society Auckland Branch.

You can contact the committee members or the secretariat with any inquiries related to Auckland Branch New Lawyers or the Law Society.

Events and Seminars

The Auckland Branch New Lawyers committee typically organises one social event and one casual learning event (seminar) a month. They are a great chance to network and meet new people as well as catch up with past university friends and colleagues. Our casual learning events are also good opportunities to gain knowledge on different areas of law and to further your legal knowledge.

New lawyers in Auckland who have been admitted, hold a practising certificate and have been practising for no longer than 5 years will receive email invitations to events from the Law Society Auckland Branch. If you have been admitted, hold a practising certificate, have been practising for fewer than 5 years and are still not receiving the email invitations please contact us so we can help you.

If you have been admitted but do not hold a practising certificate and wish to come to our events please register with the Auckland Branch at auckland@lawsociety.org.nz or contact a member of the Auckland Branch New Lawyers committee.
