Chance to update on Property Law Act developments

A 150-minute videoconference to update property lawyers on developments in the Property Law Act 2007 is to be held in Gisborne on 1 May 2012.

The videoconference is being run by the New Zealand Law Society’s continuing legal education arm, NZLS CLE Ltd. It will be held in Gisborne if a minimum of six registrations are received before 13 April.

The Property Law Act 2007 was described as the largest single change to property law in 55 years. The changes made affected all property lawyers. With four years of case law and analysis now available, the videoconference looks at the Act and how it is performing.

The presenters are David Grinlinton, Associate Professor of Law at Auckland University and Auckland lawyer Peter Nolan.

The conference will focus on real property issues and is suitable for all property lawyers. It will cover the statutory framework of the Act, provisions and rules covering matters such as contract interpretation and sale and purchase agreements, mortgages, leases, service of notices, special powers and jurisdiction of the court, and future directions.

The fee for attendance is $205 for Law Society members and Associate members, and $255 for non-members.
