New Zealand Law Society - Report a lawyer

Report a lawyer

Lawyers must submit a report to the Law Society if they have reasonable grounds to suspect another lawyer has engaged in misconduct. They can also report unsatisfactory conduct.

This obligation applies whether the lawyer experienced the conduct or became aware of what took place as a supervisor, employer, colleague or bystander.

If you have questions about the process or wish to ask advice before making a report, you can talk to us in confidence on 0800 261 801.

If you are not a lawyer but have a concern about a lawyer, please visit the Lawyers Complaints Service for information on how we can help.
