Join the New Lawyer Committee and our panel of three experienced family practitioners as we discuss the day-to-day life of a family lawyer, what to expect going into practicing family law, and learn more about the family court experience. 

Panelists:

Colin Abernethy
Colin is a Partner at Harmans, with over 20 years' experience in practising family law. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the NZ Law Society Family Law Section and was appointed as the only lawyer to the Ministry of Justice's Working Group that is investigating a new operating model for Family Court cases involving co-parenting and family/sexual violence. 
Jess Babe
Jess is a Partner at Cunningham Taylor and has a wealth of experience in Care of Children, Family Violence, Oranga Tamariki and Relationship Property Matters. Jess is a member of the Executive Committee of the NZ Law Society Family Law Section

Erin Ebborn
Erin is the Principal Lawyer and Director of Portia, a specialist Family Law firm which works closely with various women's refuge services across the South Island. Erin has 25 years' experience as a family lawyer and is a court-appointed Lawyer for Child

The New Lawyers Committee Seminar Series is for lawyers with 0-7 years' PQE.  It includes 5-6 sessions across the year, each focused on different areas of practice.
