Civil Litigation Seminar - Arbitration: A Number of Must Knows

The Civil Litigation Committee invites lawyers to part one of a two-part practical seminar series on arbitration presented by Tony Hughes-Johnson KC and Malcolm Wallace.

Tony Hughes-Johnson KC is an experienced commercial litigator and King's Counsel, and a Fellow (Arbitration) of AMINZ. Malcolm Wallace is a barrister with significant experience and expertise in arbitration, is a Fellow (Arb) of AMINZ, and currently serves as President of AMINZ.

The seminar series will provide practical guidance on key issues in commencing, conducting and concluding arbitrations under the Arbitration Act 1996. Session One will cover the existence and scope of arbitration agreements, valid initiation and service of notices, comparison of arbitration versus court litigation, drafting agreements, arbitrator selection, confidentiality, and limitation issues.

Session Two will address conduct of arbitration, including procedural flexibility, interim orders, costs, and enforcement of awards.
