Family Litigation - Wellington

The Role:
Based in Wellington, this role involves collaboration with both our Employment and Litigation teams. Your primary task will be to assist our Wellington Employment partner, Andy Bell, in expanding our family litigation practice. This position offers a distinctive opportunity to not only enhance your family law expertise but also to gain skills in employment law by working closely with a highly collaborative partner.

In this position, you’ll:

  • Enjoy client contact, providing effective communication;
  • Manage end-to-end workflow to effectively and efficiently deliver on client requests;
  • Provide that safe pair of experienced hands that the Partners can rely upon to make things happen;
  • Appear in the Family Court and Employment Relations Authority;
  • Effectively take instructions, use initiative and delegate to others; 
  • Produce well researched and analysed legal opinions, correspondence and documents;  
  • Prepare high quality articles, newsletters and presentations/seminars;
  • Identify, develop and execute marketing strategies for new and existing business opportunities;
  • Further develop and grow in your own career and practice; &
  • Behave in a way that supports our cultural values and help drive our strategic goals. 

About You:
Ideally, you’ll have 4+ years’ post qualification experience with exposure to various facets of family and litigation law, having built a good level of technical expertise and excellent client service ethos. 

Motivated and driven, you’ll thrive on being able to work hard and smart, delivering work effectively – both autonomously and through utilising the team. You’ll apply critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills to review information at hand, think of alternative solutions and evaluate the best approaches to reach a resolution. 

You’ll have a strong ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate with others internally and externally. Ideally, you’ll have the interpersonal and communication skills needed to speak openly and hold yourself and others to account, while also treating others with respect and empathy. You’ll be the kind of person who has a positive impact on team and firm wide culture.
